Discover The Spark Makerspace's Audio Recording Booths: Bass, Tenor, Alto, and Soprano!
The Spark Makerspace at the University of North Texas offers a variety of audio recording booths, each designed to cater to specific user requirements.
Bass and Tenor: Enhanced Recording Quality and ADA Compliant
The Bass (10ft x 10ft) and Tenor (8ft x 8ft) booths are designed for optimal acoustic performance, with superior sound isolation and absorption. These booths feature high-quality materials and construction that minimize sound reflections, reducing unwanted noise and echoes. Both Bass and Tenor are ADA compliant, featuring ramps and large doors to accommodate users with mobility needs.
Both booths are equipped with the Yamaha MG10XU mixer, featuring high-quality preamps, built-in digital effects, and single-knob compression. This mixer ensures a clean and controlled sound, which is essential for professional recordings. The Shure SM7B microphone is renowned for its exceptional performance, capturing a wide frequency range and providing a natural, warm sound.
Alto & Soprano: Single Voice-Over Booths
The Alto and Soprano booths are compact, cost-effective solutions designed primarily for audio recording. They are equipped with the Audio-Technica AT2040 microphone, a high-performance, large-diaphragm condenser microphone that delivers exceptional detail and low noise. Please note that the Alto and Soprano booths are not ADA compliant.
Booking and Training
The recording booths are bookable through the space reservations system on the Libraries website. Users must sign up for a training session to learn how to effectively use the equipment and optimize their recording experience before they can book a recording booth.
