MGMT 4100: Business Planning for Entrepreneurs

This guide covers resources to help students complete their assignments and projects for MGMT 4100.

Introduction

Keep the following in mind when looking for company information:

  • Is the company public or private?
    • Private companies are going to be more challenging to find information on them. In that case, you might want to search for newspaper articles about the company or rely on their company website.
  • Is the company small or large?
    • Small companies can be more difficult to find information on compared to large companies.
  • Is the company the parent company or are they a subsidiary of a parent company?
    • Subsidiaries are also more difficult to track down.
  • Is the company foreign or domestic?
    • Foreign companies are also going to be more difficult to find information on them.

There can be great variability in the information available on a company, so be sure to check a variety of sources. Explore the sub-page, "Company Overviews," that cover sources that profile both public and private companies.
