Introduction

Research design is a plan or strategy to address the research questions or gaps you have identified. Your research problem determines the type of design that best aligns with your research questions. The following are examples of the most common types of research design in the social sciences. This list is not exhaustive; you can search the UNT library catalog with the keywords "research design" or explore the Sage Research Methods Map to view other examples of research design.

  • Descriptive Design
  • Ethnography
  • Exploratory Design
  • Experimental Design
  • Quasi-experimental Design
