Welcome to the course guide for INFO 6940: Seminar in Research and Research Methodology. The following pages will introduce you to databases you can use to locate articles, books and research methods for your areas of specialty. You'll also find instructions on how to establish a RefWorks account and use the reference manager to 1) organize and store references, 2) create bibliographies, and 3) create in-text citations and bibliographies will writing a Word document.
Your subject librarian for the College of Information is Greg Hardin. He is your main contact at the library. However, please feel free to contact me whenever you have questions, especially related to RefWorks and this course guide.
Please take five minutes to complete this evaluation, and tell us whether the library instruction for your class and this course guide have been helpful. Thanks!
Interlibrary Loan and ILLiad
ILLiad is the system the UNT Libraries use to process interlibrary loans (ILLs). When the book or article you want isn't available at the UNT Libraries, you can submit a request in your ILLiad account and the UNT Libraries will find another library that will loan the item to you through the ILL program. All UNT enrolled students, faculty, and staff are eligible to use ILL, and it's free!
You need to establish your ILLiad account because it is not provided automatically. Start by clicking on the Accounts Login button on the Libraries homepage.
Next look to the right for the ILLiad Login. Below it, select the Create An ILLiad Account link.
Follow the instructions for registering for an ILLiad account. If you are a distance learning student, be sure to pick that option from the Status drop-down menu so you can request library item delivery in the future.
It takes about 5 minutes to complete registration, and when you're done you can immediately make a request. For assistance with your account, contact the Interlibrary Loan Department.
