Books - Jazz Research

You can use the library's online catalog to search for specific books about jazz or to see which books we may have on jazz-related topics relevant to your research.  For example, we have many biographies of famous jazz artists.  We have books about the history of jazz and the history of particular styles of jazz.

Go to the library homepage to start your search:

Once there, click the Books & More tab on the left to start searching. 
From there you are searching our online catalog, which is called Discover. You can also search it directly:

BROWSING FOR BOOKS ABOUT JAZZ:

While it is not possible to give you call numbers that will include everything, here are some numbers that might be interesting for browsing:

ML 3561 .J3    Under this number you will find many books on the history of jazz. 

ML 420    Under this number you will find biographies of performers in various styles of music, in alphabetical order by performers' last names.  Many jazz artists are included.

ML 156.4 in the Music Reference section    There are many jazz discographies under this number in reference.  They are not allowed to be checked out, so that they will always be available for research in the Music Library.
