Citation manuals, study aids, and course reading materials, including textbooks, may be available as course reserves through the Libraries by instructor request. Reserves for physical items are located at different library service desks based on the course subject and are limited to short-term checkout periods (2 hours, 4 hours, 6 hours, or 24 hours).
Students can save time by placing online holds for books owned by UNT Libraries directly through the UNT Libraries' website. Requests are processed by library staff within 48 hours if items are available, and you will be notified by email when items are ready for pickup. Books can be picked up at various library service desks throughout campus or for Willis self-service pickup.
Students can request that their online holds be delivered to the library service desk location of their choice, including Discovery Park Library and Frisco Landing Library. Some materials will have restrictions on where the items can be picked up.
Students can request that their online holds be placed in a self-service pickup locker on the first floor of Willis Library. Items picked up from the lockers will be checked out to your library account and can be picked up even when service desks are closed. You will receive an email with self-service pickup instructions when items are ready.
Access Services can provide Distance Learning services for eligible patrons, including active graduate students working on their thesis or dissertation. UNT-owned books are retrieved and shipped to the student's mailing address free of charge. Distance learning students should submit all requests through their ILLiad account. Some materials, including course reserves, are restricted and cannot be mailed.
Items that are not owned by UNT Libraries or are otherwise checked out or not available may be requested through Interlibrary loan (ILL). Journal articles and book chapters scanned from UNT Libraries' print collections may be requested through Document Delivery (DD). Students can submit ILL and DD requests electronically, check request status, access electronically delivered items, apply for renewals, and view their request history through their ILLiad account.
Students can also access the collections of other libraries through a TexShare card. A TexShare card allows a remote or traveling student to visit and borrow another participating library's materials. There are more than 1,000 TexShare libraries and branches across the state.
Students can recommend an item for addition to the UNT Libraries' collections by filling out a New Free Online Resource Recommendation form or a New Purchase Request form. Titles are purchased as funds are available, and in accordance with the Libraries' Collection Development Policy. Items for immediate need can be requested through ILL.
The Willis Library Services Desk has a variety of items available for checkout to assist with the coursework and accessibility needs of the UNT community. Equipment includes calculators, supply kits, sensory items, and assistive technologies.
The Spark is a makerspace that offers in-space and circulating equipment such as laptops, headphones and phone chargers, audio and visual equipment, electronics, manufacturing and textile machines and tools.
There are many resources available for student-parents at UNT Libraries that include family-friendly spaces and workstations, family bathroom, lactation room, family study hours, and kids activity kits.
Students can find valuable information and applications to assist with off-campus access to the UNT Libraries' electronic resources.
