Welcome to the UNT Libraries' Juvenile Award Winners LibGuide. The Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC), a division of the American Library Association (ALA), awards noteworthy books for children and young adults on an annual basis. These awards are announced every January at a press conference during the ALA Midwinter Meeting. Operating on a foundation of equality and impartiality, ALSC accepts submissions for book and media awards from all. Visit the ALSC webpage for more information about juvenile book and media awards.
This LibGuide specifically contains information about the Caldecott and Newberry book awards, in addition to a comprehensive list of the winners for each year that links to the book's record on the UNT Library website if we have the item in our collection.
Users of this LibGuide could be instructors and students of English, Library Science, and/or Education classes in children's literature, parents looking to expose their children to formative, character-building fiction, or simply anyone who is interested in reading renowned works for young minds.
