Search for Substances and Their Properties in SciFinder

This video from SciFinder Scholar shows you how to locate substances, property data, and regulations.

Search for a Research Topic in SciFinder Scholar

This video from SciFinder Scholar shows you how to search for articles on a topic in the database.

Another Strategy to Find Journal Articles

Besides doing a Research Topic search, you can find journal articles for a substance directly from the CAS Registry screen for the substance. Using the example of DDT, do the Substance Identifier search for [DDT], and then select the registry number.

On the next screen, you'll see a chart of CAS Roles for DDT with several study options. Select a link to see a list of articles based on that category of studies, e.g., analytical study.

Arsenic analytical studies

For DDT, you get 4238 references to analytical studies! You can refine the results by a number of limiters including Research Topic. Adding the words [drinking water] would help to narrow the search to articles about analyzing DDT in drinking water.
