Hearing Health for Musicians

Resources to help musicians to care for their ears to protect their hearing now and in the future

Subject Searching in the Online Catalog

In the next section titled Resources, you will find a selection of journals, books, and video available at the library. You can also search for resources on your own through the online catalog at discover.library.unt.edu. To conduct a broad search for resources related to hearing and performance arts health, we recommend selecting Advanced search to do a Subject Search. To do this, locate the Subject field and try one of the following three particularly relevant subjects by typing the subject into the search field:

Performing arts medicine
Musicians—diseases
Musicians—wounds and injuries

Medical Problems of Performing Artists is the journal that is specifically devoted to listening health and similar topics:

The library has the print version from 1987-2019, which is located in the Music Library on the fourth floor of the Willis Library, and the electronic version from 3/1/2000-6/30/2009.

Please note, there are problems with our subscription for which we are urgently seeking help from the administrators of the journal, but we are currently unable to provide access to post-2009 issues electronically.

Check out the Finding Articles tab on the left-hand navigation pane to learn more about searching for articles on listening health and other performance-arts health topics.
