Conflict, Peace Studies, Political Violence, and Terrorism

This guide is intended to provide information on resources available from the UNT Libraries, both in the library and online, for studying conflict, peace studies, political violence, and terrorism topics. This guide may support coursework completed in PSCI 4640, PSCI 4821, PSCI 4823, and PSCI 4825 as well as independent study in these topics.

UNT Libraries Locations

UNT has several libraries. Most Political Science materials can be found on the Mezzanine Level of Sycamore Library, which is located inside Sycamore Hall You can find a map of library locations here:

The UNT Libraries offer a variety of service for our students:

• Students can borrow or renew books at our Library Services Desks with a current student ID.
• Photocopying, scanning, and printing are available at all libraries (24/7 at our Willis Library).
• Other library technology includes interactive whiteboards and instruction rooms with screens and projectors available in our Collaboration and Learning Commons in the Sycamore Library as well as gaming stations at our Media Library.
• The Libraries offer several study areas for both quiet and group study!

Finding Books

Browsing the Catalog

You can perform a subject search in the UNT Library Catalog, A Subject search is often a good starting point. Your results will display the number of titles we have under that general heading, and then under a series of sub-headings, which often focus on specific regions or related items. You can also perform keyword searches. The catalog will look for your search terms anywhere in the library item record (i.e. title, author, subject, notes), allowing you to perform a more targeted search.

When you have located the materials you are interested in, write down the call number and title to find the book on the shelves or present it to a staff person at the Service Desk for help.

The Political Science books are located on the Mezzanine Level of the Sycamore Library in the J-JZ call number range.
