Regardless of previous gardening experience, any current UNT student, faculty, or staff member is encouraged to become part of this growing community for collaborative learning. Our space features twenty raised gardening plots for growing organic vegetables, fruits, herbs, and flowers. Each plot is managed year-round by garden members who apply to care for a specific garden plot. Apply for membership today!

Plot Membership

• Previous gardening experience is NOT necessary
• All supplies are provided by the We Mean Green Fund and there are no fees to join!
• Current UNT students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to apply for plot membership throughout the year. If there are no available spaces, your application will be placed next in line on the waiting list.

Gardening Workshops

• Guest speakers cover topics such as Gardening 101, Top 10 Plants for North Texas Growing, Pest Identification, Planting for Pollinators, Seasonal Gardening, and more. These virtual and in-person workshops are open for UNT students, staff, and faculty to attend for free, however, priority seating will be given to official UNT Community Garden plot members.
• Speakers range from the Community Garden Facilitator, Denton County Master Gardeners Association, UNT faculty, and even students. If you would like to present at a workshop, please contact CommunityGarden@unt.edu.

Garden Workdays 

• Open for UNT students, staff, and faculty to attend, garden workdays are opportunities for community service and plot maintenance. Come learn about how to garden by working alongside beginners and seasoned gardeners alike. 
• Workdays are scheduled throughout the year. Our upcoming events that are open to the public will be listed on social media (@growmeangreen).
• Workday activities may include pulling weeds, planting new flower beds, turning compost, and other special projects.
• Come dressed to get dirty and bring your own water!
• After attending, log your service hours to work towards earning your Environmental Volunteerism Graduation Cord.

New Member Orientation

New plot members must attend an in-person orientation before joining a garden plot. If there is plot space available when you apply for membership, you will receive an email from staff that will invite you to RSVP for a scheduled orientation date. Please do not arrive at an orientation if the garden staff has not instructed you to do so.
