Library resources you need for the Adopt-A-Molecule Term Project.

ACS Style Guide

You are required to use the ACS Style Guide, 3rd edition, for formatting your paper and citations. The guide is available online, and you can access it at the library, through EagleNet, or from home. To use the book, follow these steps:

  1. Select the link below and you'll be taken to the library catalog.
  2. Next select the link, "Connect to electronic resource." If are accessing the book remotely (including EagleNet), you'll be asked to enter your EUID and EUID password after you click on the link.
  3. Now you can browse, read, and save/print parts of the guide.

Quick Guide and CASSI

These are some shortcuts to using the ACS Style. Note that the ACS style requires you to abbreviate journal titles in reference list citations. CASSI is the tool that helps you find the abbreviations.

Want To Try a Reference Manager?

Want to try a tool that formats citations for you, instead of doing it manually? You can with a reference manager. There are numerous ones available - EndNote, Zotero, Mendeley, EasyBib - but the UNT Libraries provide RefWorks for all students, faculty and staff.

With RefWorks you can:

  • Easily export references from electronic databases, the UNT library catalog, text files, websites and more into your account
  • Quickly create reference lists for papers and projects in the citation style of your choice, including ACS
  • Share references with colleagues

See the RefWorks tab to set up your account and get started collecting references. Visit the RefWorks topic guide for video tutorials, and instructions for basic and advanced functions.
