Reference Analytics Guide

Guide to using the UNT Libraries data tracking system

View / Edit Transactions

Viewing transactions - Every transaction entered into the Reference Analytics form enters a database viewable by all UNT employees. This can be a helpful resources for training new employees or catching gaps in training.

Editing transactions - After a transaction is added it can still be modified or deleted. Please ONLY modify your own transactions. Most often,  you will want to use this feature to delete any patron data that is added. Since this database can be viewed by all UNT Library employees please delete personally identifiable information such as names, email addresses, or student IDs.

View Statistics

Once transactions have been entered into Reference Analytics form they can be used collectively to produce insightful data with the apps reporting tools.

To get started with the reporting tools:

  1. Login to LibAnswers
  2. Navigate to the Ref. Analytics tab
  3. Select View Statistics

You may then view data by Date / Time, Metadata, or User Stats. You will want to strategically use the filters to narrow results to what you want. For example, one can combine department, role, and time period to see how many questions the Ask Us team answered Fall 2024. Data will be generated that shows peak hours, most popular transaction methods, user statistics, and more.
