Longitude and Latitude of the County Seat

Type [county seat, texas] in the Select a Town box and enter. At the bottom right of the next screen, click on the link, County Seat TX Zip Code. The first paragraph on the next screen tells you the longitude and latitude of the town's center.

Rural and Urban Populations

Go to the above webpage and follow these steps to build a table showing the rural and urban populations of your count from the year 2000:

  • Select Summary File 4 (SF4) and then the link Detailed Tables to the right
  • Select Geographic Type = County; select State = Texas; select your county name and then click on the Add button
  • Click on the Next button
  • Add Tables PCT 1 and PCT 2 and then click on the Next button
  • On the next screen, click on Show Results
  • A table with the population figures will be generated. Capture the table or make your own table with the numbers. Remember to reference the webpage!

 Go to the above webpage and follow these steps to build a table showing the rural and urban populations of your count from the year 1990:

  • Select Summary Tape File 3 (STF3) and then the link Detailed Tables to the right
  • Select Geographic Type = County; select State = Texas; select your county name and then click on the Add button
  • Click on the Next button
  • Add Tables P001 and P006 and then click on the Show Results button
  • A table with the population figures will be generated. Capture the table or make your own table with the numbers. Remember to reference the webpage!
