Welcome

Welcome!

This is the LibGuides page for the Sycamore Library's Reference-By-Mail program! Here you will find resources to help you better understand what Reference-By-Mail is, what it entails, and why it's an essential library service. Please, don't hesitate to ask us any questions you may have.

What is Reference-By-Mail?

Reference-By-Mail is a library service that provides reference answers to individuals experiencing incarceration. As library workers, we believe everyone should have access to library information services, even those currently incarcerated.

Incarcerated individuals can send us reference questions via mail, and our team of reference librarians and library workers -- following the correspondence rules of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice -- will provide answers to the best of our ability.

Those currently incarcerated have very limited access to information, so we believe providing reference services through mail serves as a vital resource for incarcerated individuals seeking to stay connected to society.
