Continuity of Library Services

Library Service Updates

Due to COVID-19 related health concerns and restrictions, the UNT Libraries are suspending some of their services. We appreciate your patience as we work on new workflows and safety procedures for restarting our services. Following services are currently suspended.

  • Courtesy Card: New Courtesy Cards will not be issued and expired accounts will not be renewed for community patrons until further notice.
  • TexShare Program: TexShare cards may be issued to UNT patrons, but we are not accepting TexShare from other institutions.
  • Willis Library Lockers: Lockers will not be issued.
  • Study Rooms: Study rooms will not be available for reservation or use.

Modified Services: Library instruction will be conducted virtually. Special Collections will provide services online and by appointment only. If you have any questions concerning the suspended or modified services, please Ask Us!

Borrowing and Returning Library Materials

Please contact Circ@unt.edu if you need assistance with library materials.

 

Discover the Library

The library's Discover Catalog will help you locate materials and use borrowing services. Visit the Using the Library Catalog guide for more information about the new catalog's search features. 

Checkout

Checkout and holds services are limited to students, faculty, and staff. A valid UNT ID is required for all checkout of materials. 

  • Items located in Willis library can be checked out using the Self-Checkout Machine.
  • Checkout period for library items will be according to the borrowing policies.
  • Laptops and calculators are available for 24 hours checkout.
  • Headphones and phone chargers are not available. The Library Services Desk will provide disposable earbuds on request.
Return

Please return materials to the designated drops, returned items will not be accepted at the service desks.

The drop box locations:

  • Highland Street, close to the Willis library 
  • Willis Library, First Floor 
  • Discovery Park Library 
  • Chestnut Street outside of Chilton Hall, use for Media Library returns

Items will be checked in after a 3-day quarantine period. Materials returned may still appear on your account but will be back-dated when they are checked in.

You may review the current status of checked out items by logging into the catalog on the Accounts Login page. 

Online Holds

Online holds pick up service is available to UNT patrons. Items can be requested from our online catalog for pickup at the service desks in Willis Library, or Discovery Park Library. Hold location rules may apply and items can be checked out with a valid UNT ID. 

 

Faculty Delivery

Faculty may request for books to be delivered to their departmental office. Items will be processed with as little contact as possible. Delivered items may be returned using the library courier bags and will be quarantined once they are received by the library before they are checked in. Media Delivery

The Media Library is closed right now, but media materials may be requested online using the Discover catalog and picked up on the 2nd floor of Willis Library in room 250C. A viewing station for media is also available in Willis, room 250B. Questions about media, or requests to reserve the viewing station room, may be sent by email to the Media Library. Interlibrary Loan Borrowing and Returns

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) services, allow you to borrow or access materials that UNT does not own or subscribe to from another institution. These services may be disrupted depending on our library lending partners. ILL staff are available to assist you with delayed requests and other service needs at ILL@unt.edu. The Interlibrary Loan Borrowing and Document Delivery Services page contains more information about ILL policies and eligibility requirements.

 

Setting up Your ILLiad Account

Go to the Library website Accounts Login tab this is where you will go to log in and make requests. Information about ILLiad and the registration form is linked below the login box in the Create your ILLiad account link.

After your account is set up, it will go through our approval process. If your information is filled out correctly, and you don't currently have a block on your Library account, then you'll be ready to request items!
