Where do I go for industry overviews, profiles and reports?

The following bulleted list of library subscription databases offer information on a variety of industries. To get started:

Choose the database you would like to explore
Read the tip below the link so you know how to navigate the site (or view the tutorial)

Business Insights: Global
Click on "industry profiles" from home page or search by industry name or NAICS code. Choose "Industry" from drop down menu next to search box before executing your search.

Business Source Complete
Limit search to "Industry Profile" under "Publication Type," then search by industry name from "Basic Search." Use "Thesaurus" to determine industry name being used in the database.

Hoovers Online (Now Mergent Intellect)
Choose "Industries" from "All Categories" drop down menu then type industry name in search box, or click on "Browse Hoover's Industries."

IBISWorld
Click on links to "Browse Report Listings" or search by keyword, company or NAICS. The "Supply Chain" section of each report includes three of Porter's Five Forces: supplier power, threat of substitution and buying power of customers.

Morningstar investment research center
Click the "Markets" tab to access quarterly stock industry reports, along with stock sector reports.

Statista
Statistical data on international industries from thousands of sources including market researchers, trade organizations, scientific journals, and government databases. Provides access to quantitative data on media, business, finance, politics, and other areas of interest.

Value Line Research center
Click the "Markets" tab then "Industries" to view stock "Industry Overview" reports. Click the "Browse Research" tab to access the most recent industry report on approximately 100 industries updated every 13 weeks. Under "Industry Screens," select the industry you are interested in from the drop down list, then click on the "Industry Analysis" button for the report.
