This page highlights general reference resources for background information on African American Studies. The boxes below search UNT Libraries general reference databases. The boxes to the right of this column focus on categories of resources in physical and electronic formats that are available for use either in one of the UNT Libraries locations or online.
Use the Books tab to search for all materials in the collections of the UNT Libraries.
UNT Libraries provides two additional general reference resources that contain extensive information related to African American Studies:
CQ Press Electronic Library
(for American government, politics, history, public policy, and current affairs)
Oxford Reference Online
(for full text access to dictionaries and encyclopedias by Oxford University Press and selected titles from the Oxford Companion series)
The following materials are just a small sample of the biographical resources available in the UNT Libraries. These titles are included below because they treat multiple people, are noteworthy for their content, or have relatively recent publication dates; biographies and autobiographies of single individuals as well as works for younger readers are excluded from the list.
