Subject Librarians

Librarians are assigned to every college and department to make sure students and faculty have a contact at the library. These subject librarians are ready to answer your questions about library services, research and more. Find your contact in the Subject Librarian Directory.

Check Out Materials

Many books and journals can be checked out of the Libraries for a period of time for your convenience. You can check out items at a library service desk or use the self checkout station at the Willis Library. Visit Check Out Materials for checkout periods and other details.

Renew Your Materials

You can renew library materials online through your UNT library catalog account. Or you can renew items in-person at one of the Libraries' service desks. Visit Renew Your Materials for details and policies.

Interlibrary Loan

Can't find an article or book that you need at UNT? Interlibrary Loan can get it for your for free. Sign up for your ILLiad account and start making requests today. Please allow the following amounts of time for items to arrive:

  1. Articles - 3 to 4 days, they arrive in your account in electronic form
  2. Book chapters - same as above
  3. Books - 1 to 2 weeks
  4. Dissertations and theses - ~ 6 weeks

Material Delivery Service

Need a book or journal that is at a different UNT library or in Remote Storage? For books and bound journals, place an online hold on a title through the library catalog; the item will be delivered to the UNT library of your choice in 24 hours on weekdays. For articles, make the request through your ILLiad account.

Distance Learning Requests

Are you taking online courses only? Then you can receive books and journal articles through Distance Learning Requests. Use your ILLiad interlibrary loan account to request items (establish an ILLiad account here). You will receive items within 48 hours after you request them. Books are sent by USPS Express Mail and journal articles are scanned and sent to your ILLiad account. This service is free to UNT distance students!
