Texas Voting Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible to register to vote in Texas, a person must be:

  • A United States citizen;
  • A resident of the Texas county in which application for registration is made;
  • At least 18 years old on Election Day;
  • Not finally convicted of a felony, or, if so convicted must have (1) fully discharged the sentence, including any term of incarceration, parole, or supervision, or completed a period of probation ordered by any court; or (2) been pardoned or otherwise released from the resulting disability to vote; and
  • Not determined by a final judgment of a court exercising probate jurisdiction to be (1) totally mentally incapacitated; or (2) partially mentally incapacitated without the right to vote.

Register to Vote in Texas

There are several ways to register to vote in Texas:

  1. Follow the link below to complete an application that can be printed and mailed
  2. Stop by any UNT residence hall, the Willis Library, or Sycamore Hall to pick up a Texas Voter Registration Application
    (Access the tutorial below for help completing the application)
  3. Contact govinfo@unt.edu to request an appointment with a Deputy Voter Registrar at UNT
  4. Visit the Denton County Election Office at 701 Kimberly Drive in Denton to register in person
